Yesterday Sydney asked about the grapes hanging in the doorway. I love that she noticed and told her about some Filipino customs. In Filipino culture it is superstition that what you do on the first day of the year is what you will likely spend the rest of the year doing. So I did the following:
- Homeschooling with Sydney
- Taking a nap
- Coloring with Sydney and reading a ton of books/sang songs
- Cooking dinner
- Preparing taxes for my small biz
- Playing two games of Dominion with hubby while Sydney napped
- Ransacking the house for my 2014 planner (I love paper) and organizing our bookshelf
Hubby spent the first day:
- Sleeping in
- Programming
- Practicing magic
- Watching some TV
- Reading/Playing with Sydney
- Washing the dishes
- Playing Dominion with me
Sydney spent her first day:
- Avoiding breakfast
- Playing/Coloring
- Doing tricks on her dinosaur ride on toy
- Running all over the house
- Eating half a cookie
- Drinking more than her usual share of milk
Sounds like us alright. We will see if hubs will wash the dishes more and Sydney’s appetite grows. I meant to do our laundry but my mom beat me to it. That sounds about right too even though I keep telling her to stop so she can relax. She is recuperating from being in the hospital last week and she is supposed to be on bedrest!
I look forward to more time for my own art and growing our biz throughout the year! I hope to be more organized and establish a routine that will allow me some more Mommy time without slighting Sydney. The next few posts will be holiday recaps and I will throw in some more reviews in there. I like to avoid technology as much as possible during the holidays and now it’s catch up time!
I hope you had a great time ringing in the new year and that you surprise yourself this year. I know I plan to.
